Linton Stephens presents outstanding performances from across the UK and beyond. As part of the BBC’s collaboration with the V&A East Museum exhibition the Music is Black, Radio 3 is celebrating the music of Black British composers and artists across the week. Today's show includes a specially commissioned new work inspired by the exhibition, 'On the Shoulders of Aunties and Uncles', written by the film and TV composer Segun Akinola and recorded by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, alongside other great music from Black British composers and favourite classical tracks performed by Black British artists. Linton continues his week on Classical Live with visits to Switzerland and Germany today, including music by Richard Strauss, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Leonard Bernstein. The BBC Orchestras are at centre stage too, including recent recordings of Sibelius and Dvorak from The Ulster Orchestra and music by Errollyn Wallen from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
