with Sir Jonathan Pryce

18 Again

Available for 28 days

Cerys Matthews talks to award winning actor Sir Jonathan Pryce about the music, film, fashions and fads of 1965, the year he turned 18. In the second hour Cerys follows up the discussion with a playlist of sounds from '65, including all the record breakers, chart toppers and scene setters from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to The Seekers and Cilla Black. Jonathan Pryce grew up in Flintshire and would go on to attend art college followed by RADA. Later, he'd win awards for roles on stage in the likes of Hamlet and Miss Saigon. In film, he's played Bond villains, Popes and US Presidents and on the small screen, he's best known for star turns in The Crown, Game of Thrones, Slow Horses and most recently, Under Salt Marsh. In this candid conversation, Jonathan talks to Cerys about his 'wilderness year' of 1965 and the pop culture that was formative through this period. They cover everything from the music that soothed teenage heartbreak to a Lonnie Donegan inspired first step into showbiz... They discuss long hair, The Cavern Club, cuban heel boots and the Pop Art explosion... Get ready to be taken back in time in the company of a Welsh legend!
