Robbie Williams… the icon of 90s icons! From being a boyband heart-throb, to a tabloid front-page regular, to launching a record-breaking solo career, Robbie’s 90s had it all… and now we get to hear all about it, in his own words. Hosting this very special hour of Sounds of the 90s, Robbie looks back at the highs and lows of a turbulent decade (he says ‘the 90s was a very good time to have a bad time’) He's talking Britpop (the 90s movement, *and* the title of his record-breaking album), his love of 90s boybands, his 90s telly favourites, and, following the huge Take That documentary (Netflix), Robbie shares what his relationship with Gary Barlow looks like in 2026. Plus... the archives have been delved into, and Robbie's hearing a Radio 1 presenting stint of his from 1996. Joining him is his wife, actress Ayda Field-Williams, hearing many of his 90s anecdotes for the very first time! Of course, it’s all accompanied by the tunes that soundtracked his 90s, with music that helped him to ‘heal’, ‘rival’ boyband bangers, and his 'favourite tune of all time’, from the likes of Five, Underworld, East 17, Oasis, Jay Z, and a few of Robbie’s 90s classics thrown in for good measure. Produced by TBI Media for BBC Radio 2.
