Record ReviewAvailable for 23 days
Andrew McGregor assesses some of the best new classical releases. 2.10pm Andrew is joined by guest reviewer Nigel Simeone, who picks some of his favourite new releases. 3pm Violinist Tasmin Little surveys recordings of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in E flat, K.364 and makes a top recommendation. Mozart wrote his great Sinfonia Concertante for solo violin and viola in 1779, while on a tour of Europe that included Mannheim and Paris, cities that boasted some of Europe's finest orchestral musicians. Its grand opening movement is followed by an impassioned Andante in C minor, and a fizzing finale. Top choice: Augustin Dumay (violin), Veronika Hagen (viola) Camerata Academica Salzburg DG 4596752 3.45pm Andrew's Record of the Week.
