Mozart wrote his great Sinfonia Concertante for solo violin and viola in 1779, while on a tour of Europe that included Mannheim and Paris, cities that boasted some of Europe's finest orchestral musicians. Its grand opening movement is followed by an impassioned Andante in C minor, and a fizzing finale.
