Indie dance was born out of the raw energy of rock and the sounds of post disco dance in the 80s. Guitars, drum machines, synths and indie vocals came together to bridge the gap between underground clubs and festival stages. Pete dives into it's impact from the 80s and 90s with artists like New Order and the Happy Mondays, all the way through to the 00s, 10s and modern day with music from Justice, Empire of the Sun and Confidence Man. Plus Erol Alkan picks three Essential Classics from the genre and Pete rewinds a slice of Soulwax’s 2005 Essential Mix. Produced by We Are Grape for BBC Radio 1 Dance.
