Anita Rani delves into the archives telling the story of the British Bhangra Explosion of the 80s and 90s when Britain reinvented this traditional Punjabi folk music with electric guitars and synthesizers - making Britain the epicentre of the music. Anita charts the music's evolution from the early South Asian immigrants through the glory years to the bubble bursting and subsequent decline. With contributions from British Bhangra bands and producers including Alaap, Heera, Sheila Chandra, Nazia Hassan, DCS, Apache Indian and Bally Sagoo alongside Bhangra experts DJ Ritu, Shazad Sheikh and Hardeep Singh Sahota.
