In this inspirational, joyful programme, Edi meets organic chemist, Professor Sir David Macmillan of Princeton University who within the last year has won a Nobel Prize in chemistry and received a knighthood, much to his surprise. He talks with passion about his love of organic chemistry and his contribution to the new scientific field of asymmetric organocatalysis and also, with equal enthusiasm, about his working class background, growing up as the baby of the family in New Stevenston in North Lanarkshire where his mother was a home help and his father worked as a foreman engineer at Ravenscraig steelworks.
