Student Accommodation; Home Schooling; Garden Furniture.

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Some first year university students are being put up in hotels because they can't find anywhere to live. The student property portal Cubo says there's a chronic shortage of accommodation in cities like York, Bristol, Exeter and Glasgow. But how long will they have to stay there and who is paying? We talk to the founder of Cubo who's trying to find students a more permanent solution. Home schooling was forced on many parents during lockdown but for many it's a choice they exercise freely. More families are doing it and some parents argue they're being unfairly treated because of the extra costs, such as paying to enter their children into exams. They want the Government to offer more support. And while there's a premium on houses with gardens since lockdown, the cost of kitting it out with garden furniture has also risen. That's according to the consumer group Which? They've discovered some huge price increases across all of the major retailers. Producer: Simon Hoban Presenter: Shari Vahl
