The tech entrepreneur Ian Hogarth got his big break in the industry by creating an app which tells music fans when their favourite bands are playing gigs nearby. Now, after years as an investor, he's been asked by the Prime Minister to lead the UK's efforts in Artificial Intelligence as chair of the UK AI Foundation Model Taskforce. He’s got a big job on his hands, looking at how everyone can benefit from the technology’s enormous potential while making sure it’s safe. But with so much debate about the pros and cons of AI – where will he even start? For 5 Minutes On, the BBC's Technology Editor Zoe Kleinman sits down with the man who's been asked to make sure that the UK is at the forefront of developing safe artificial intelligence.
