You and Yours

Available for over a year

We report on a scheme that is helping to prevent people from becoming victims of fraud by mistakenly sending their money to criminals. The Banking Protocol, set up a year ago, helps bank staff to identify customers who might be at risk. UK Finance says that £24.7 million of fraud has been prevented and 197 arrests have been made since the scheme was rolled out in May 2017. We visit a bank in West Yorkshire to find out how the system works We hear how a British sports car company is responding to an investment slump in the industry. Investment in the sector dropped by 50 percent in the first six months of the year compared with the same period in 2017. It means those building cars here in the UK are struggling to tap into new markets around the world. Morgan - the last British sports car company still in family ownership - reckons that electric power could be the key, providing they can get it to work. We go behind the scenes at their factory in Malvern, Worcestershire. The Christmas season in retail used to start in November, then it was October, then September. Last year, Selfridges opened its Christmas shop in August. This year the supermarkets are unveiling their ranges in July! We visit two launch events to discover what the new trends will be for 2018. We also speak to the consumer journalist, Harry Wallop, about what other festive surprises might be in store. Presenter: Winifred Robinson Producer: Tara Holmes.
