Call You and Yours: How have you fared during the decade of austerity?

You and Yours

Available for over a year

How have you fared during the decade of austerity? Some commentators believe the election result was a protest at economic policies that have made many people poorer. The aim of austerity was to reduce the national deficit through cuts to public spending and making the economy more competitive. But the deficit has remained stubborn while many feel they have suffered from rising living costs, cuts to public sector services and stagnant wages. Some people have had a good decade though, with low mortgage rates and rising property values. Have you become poorer since the downturn, or have you prospered? We want to hear your story. Tell us how you've fared during the decade of austerity. Email [email protected] and don't forget to leave a phone number, so we can call you back. From 11am on Tuesday 13th June, call us on 03700 100444. Producer: Jonathan Hallewell Presenter: Winifred Robinson.
