The UK economy is boosted to the tune of 3.4 billion per annum by craft skills, which also provide millions of hobbyists an outlet for problem solving, creativity and sustainability. Far from being design's handy little sister, craft is practiced by three quarters of women with ever improving skill. We explore the past, present and future of making with a look at the history of women and craft and craft education. We meet a woman who has embarked on craftivism; three women who have turned their passion and skill into a business and hear about the benefits of craft to focus and de-stress.
