Celebrated Canadian writer Margaret Atwood is the author of books including The Handmaid's Tale, Cat's Eye, her recent collection of stories Stone Mattress and The Blind Assassin, for which she was awarded the Booker prize in 2000. She talks to Anne McElvoy about her interest in science fiction. The MaddAddam trilogy began with Oryx and Crake and continued six years later with The Year of the Flood.
