Billy Kahora is one of the writers nominated for this year's Caine Prize for African writing and has come to London to take part in the festival of literature organised by the Royal African Society. He joins Philip Dodd to reflect on the way artists in Kenya respond to the political and religious unrest in the country and to debate changes in Kenyan writing. Africa Writes 2014 marks 25 years since the English translation of the novel Matigari by Ngugi wa Thiong'o. He spoke to Philip Dodd when he published his childhood memoir Dreams in a Time of War.
