Open Book

Available for over a year

Belfast born author Bernard MacLaverty talks about his career spanning 50 years. He has published five collections of short stories and, following on from novels including 'Cal' and 'Grace Notes', is now working on his fifth novel. With his short stories now collected together for the first time, he talks to Mariella Frostrup about the themes, people and places which continue to inspire him and inform his writing. He recalls his friendship with the late Seamus Heaney and reflects on the gap which has been left in the literary world since his death. Producer: Ruth Sanderson.
