Peter White talks to Clara Eaglen, from RNIB and Helen Jackman from the Macular Society about the overly long waiting lists for initial eye treatment for people with various eye conditions. The RNIB has produced a survey which reveals that eye clinicians are over-stretched and cannot keep up with the demand for appointments. The Macular Society has contacted every Clinical Commissioning Groups in England and Wales and found that guidance from the Royal College of Ophthalmology is not being adhered to and some patients are having to wait weeks longer for treatment than the guidance stipulates.
