Sir David talks about why it took him a long time to accept that he was a writer, his ability to provoke hostility, and why is he temperamentally unsuited to a life in the theatre. He discusses leaving Britain after his play Plenty received poor reviews, and also reveals why feminists have inspired him and antagonized him, how his love of cinema has informed his writing for the stage, and why for the first time he's destroyed a play.
