A Local Patch, part 2

Nature

Available for over a year

The second of two programmes exploring our relationship with the landscape and the value of getting to know 'a local patch'. Paul Evans explores both the personal benefits which can be gained from connecting with the natural world and the wider benefits for wildlife conservation. He examines the roles of garden wildlife monitoring schemes, and the ways in which these schemes not only generate data which provides information about the UK's biodiversity but also encourages individuals to get involved with the landscapes around them. The programme explores how an interest in a 'local patch' can lead to a sense of responsibility and care, and the relationship between getting to know your local patch and the long-term benefits for conservation of our wildlife and our wild places.
