Cinema professionals in Tamil Nadu have called on the United Nations to intervene to resolve Sri Lanka’s national question. Nearly 1000 cinema personnel have on Sunday joined the continuing protests in Tamil Nadu over Sri Lanka’s military offensive in the north. Prominent Tamil film directors Bharathiraja, Cheran and Parthiban and many others have taken part in the protest held in the port city of Rameshwaram. All cinema halls were closed in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. A fasting rally is organised in Chennai by the film actors on 01 November. An all party meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu government earlier urged Indian government to broker a cease fire between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE. Tamil Nadu parliamentarians threatened to resign from their seats if Delhi failed to act within two weeks.
