The brother of renegade tamil tiger leader Karuna and two other rebels were killed in a fire fight which took place in the eastern jungles. Karuna's brother Vinayakamoorthy Sivanesadurai better known as Reggie (40) and two other rebels were camping in the Kudumbimali area close to the Maduroya forest reserve. The killings have taken place in LTTE controlled area. However the LTTE has denied having any involvement in the killings. Reggie joined his brother soon after karuna broke away from the LTTE. Attempts made by sandesaya to verify reports through independent sources were not successful. Meanwhile, a Politburo member of the Ealam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) was shot at close range in Welawatta, Colombo. Somasundaram Warnakulasinham (39) a farther of three children was shot while talking to callers who said that they have some money to be given to him from a relative who lives abroad. His wife who was with him received gun shot injuries in her hand. EPDP spokesman Nelson Edirisinha told sandeshaya that within the last few months more than one hundred of its senior carders were gunned down by the LTTE. He said “we are key players in the government and its time for the government to act" The LTTE has always denied killing EPDP cadres. |
