Norwegian special peace envoy Erik Solheim told the BBC Sandeshaya from Oslo that the Norwegians are concerned about the LTTE assassinations and the Sri Lankan Governments association with Tamil paramilitary groups who are attacking the LTTE.

The LTTE has been constantly alleging that the Sri Lankan army is using a breakaway group led by former Eastern commander Karuna to destabilise the CFA.

The CFA signed between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tigers states that the government should disarm paramilitary groups and that they could be employed by the Sri Lankan army outside the North and the East.

It also prohibits any political assassinations.

Solheim is flying to Sri Lanka on Sunday for a five day visit.

The Norwegian envoy will be meeting the Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga in Colombo and the LTTE political wing leader S P Tamilselvan in rebel held Kilinochchi.

"We are ready to meet the JVP at any time” said Solheim who will be meeting several other political parties as well. The junior partner of the ruling coalition, JVP is opposed to the commencement of peace talks based on the Interim Self Government Authority proposals put forward by the LTTE.

Erik Solheim said that discussions will be held with both parties to set up an agenda to revive the now stalled peace talks.

The Norwegian envoy's visit comes after two bodies of suspected paramilitaries who attacked an LTTE outpost in Pullumalai were found in government held territory on Sunday. A leading member of the EPDP was also gunned down allegedly by the LTTE in the Jaffna peninsular on Saturday.
