Bridgnorth Castle During the 17th Century Civil War, Bridgnorth was one of the main Royalist garrisons in the Midlands. So naturally it was attacked and subjected to a three week siege before its commander surrendered.
After the warthe most of the Castle was destroyed to stop it from being used again, and the stone was used to repair and build the town's buildings. This view was taken from halfway along Castle Gardens. In the distance on one side, you can just about see the pagoda and the war memorial... Meanwhile, opposite those landmarks is what remains of the castle itself. Just a hop over the hedge is Castle Walk and the long drop to Low Town.
