Episode 35. Ships, Coal and Sour Milk

19th century oil painting of Queen Victoria by Franz Xaver Winterhalter (C) scran.ac.uk John Purser reaches the 20th century in his survey of the history of Scottish music, and heads to the Clyde and its surrounding country for the sounds of shipbuilding, mining and a humble Lanarkshire milk cart. With songs from Danny Kyle, Will Fyffe, Adam MacNaughtan, the Boys of the Lough, and a hundred-year old recording of Glasgow street gospel singer William McEwan.
