Episode 36. (My Baby Does) Good Sculptures

Beer's knife for iridectomy (C) scran.ac.uk When sculptor Ottilie MacLaren fell in love with the eye surgeon and composer William Wallace in 1895, her father Lord MacLaren was less than pleased. But their intense relationship lasted through the first world war, where Wallace reported on some 19000 eye cases. John Purser tells their story through their love letters and Wallace’s highly romantic orchestral music.
