The son of the town drummer in Crail, Jamie Oswald’s music career began in Dunfermline as a dancing master, and ended as court composer to George III in London. John Purser follows Oswald on his quest for success, visits his music shop, hears about his scandalous marriage, and encounters music that blends Scots fiddle tunes, Italian opera, the cries of street hawkers, and Masonic rituals.
