Coasteering!

Last night I went coasteering! It was great!
For those of you that don't know, coasteering is basically jumping in the sea wearing a wetsuit and helmet. Pete Richardson takes school groups and youth groups out for trips on the coast of Shetland.
So we went in the sea at the Knab, Lerwick, and the water was absolutely freezing! Aidan plucked up the courage to jump off high rocks, and Mhairi learned how to climb out of the water...
I had a phone call last night at 10.30 from Aidan, because Donald from Shetland Arts had emailed saying we were supposed to be doing a presentation the very next day at the Garrison! This is for the Tammies, which is an award show like the Oscars, where instead of winning a gold-man-statue, you win a gold-puffin-statue (Tammie Norie - Shetland name for puffin). It's only for school groups at the moment, but we're hoping the Media Club will be involved next year.
Here are some more pictures, because the internet connection is better in the Learning Centre in Lerwick (where I'm sitting waiting for Aidan to finish the presentation...)

Enjoy!

I went coasteering myself a couple times last week, and yes it is really brilliant. Tho I think it was the cold that made my feet go numb, not the jumping feet first into the sea from an 8 meter high rock!

When I was A young lad ( about 3 years ago, give or take a decade or two ) we did coasteering with nothing on, we used to call it Skinny Coasteeering, try it sometime.
