Three million French television viewers are watching a programme consisting entirely of dictation. This annual contest has inspired Front Row to launch the first English equivalent. The nasty twist in the competition is that the sentences come from Jeffrey Archer's latest novel, Sons Of Fortune.

BAFTA NOMINATIONS
The nominations for the British Academy Film Awards were announced today. In the short film category, My Wrongs 8245-8249 and 117, written and directed by Chris Morris, the TV satirist who wrote the recent Brass Eye Special about media coverage of paedophilia, has been nominated.
