BACKGROUND
To begin I have chosen a track by Set Fire to Flame. Set Fire to Flames often use sleep depreviation and deserted buildings to create their haunting and atomospheric sound. For me the beauty of this music is in its classical undertones that in evoke both a sense of calm but also pierce the heart with an unmistakable sense of melancholy.

The next track I chose is performed soley by human voice in a power station cooling tower i think! The slow build up of sounds truly absorbs its listener into the beauty and wonder of the human voice as instrument. Using the atmospherics of the cooling tower as amplifier.

The last track is again instrumental, with its routes firmly in the classical. These three tracks for me do above all one thing, the evoke a sense of melancholy which strangely turns into a beautiful sense of calm. Darkness is always present in these pieces but the luminance of sound pierces it like daybreak.
