BACKGROUND
Three beautiful songs from three very different African artists. Khaled is one of the most talented world musicians ever, he has a rich beautiful voice. He won a recent BBC world music award (which was long overdue). Aicha is his most famous song, with record sales in the millions. The song has been re-released in various other languages. Khaled is a true superstar, and aicha is a poetic masterpiece. Daara J, are a new senegalese hip/hop outfit, with clever lyrics, rhymes and beats. They are fantastic live; they were in the African Soul Rebels tour of britain earlier this year with Rachid Taha and Tinariwen.
And finally Youssou. Probably the biggest world star ever. From Senegal like Daara J, he has one of the most fantastic voices ever and makes beautiful music. Birima is simply beautiful.
