Saturday - How Was It for You?
Here's what you thought of the Saturday's line up of DJs and bands

Dance Day

Helen M T
FatBoy was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere in the tent was electric, couldnt stop smiling! Only problem was that I was desperate to see Groove Armada too so had to leave Fatboy half way through to make it to the other tent in time. Was so annoyed that they clashed! Amazing day and well worth queuing for the tickets, please come back next year Radio 1.

vickie - stockport'ish
veiws from a jester , and no clowning around now .. nic fanciulli & trophy twins, 9/10 , even tho we did have a lil break... you warmed me up nicely Fatboy, massive 9/10, bit comercialized but you know how to please and tease a crowd, ( threw in some good oldies.. company xcepted ) i loved it !. jules 8/10 m8 seen you a couple a times, not your best i dont fink, same for you dave peirce .. tut tut!.. tiesto 8/10,wanted to stay for the full set , but legged it down to see darren emerson, one of my ole time faves -anyways 9/10.. birminghams crowd 10/10, you rocked! \0/.. top venue, cool staff, bring it back nxt year radio1x cyas then :0)

brig
Back on here again after finally coming down from the clouds five days later. just wanted to say to radio1 you put on a blinding show with excellent dj's and an awesome sound system. although i am dissapointed that people still criticize! they get in for free and still moan and i feel FATBOY SLIM has taken a few too many bad comments. the guy is a great dj, you just gotta listen to the crowd to realise that, we all loved him including his slash dot com breaks! he's promoting his new record and where better to do it? and as for rubbish mixing? he's enjoying himslef and trying new things there and then with different tunes and sounds so of course he's going to make a few mistakes so if you want perfect mixes go buy a cd and listen to it in your car. saying that, ive listened to the judge again on radio1 online and i never gave you the credit you deserved before, blinding set and great pick of tunes i just love that record you played before 'Be as one' sorry i dont know the name of it, somebody tell me so i can buy it!

Dan (AKA Trig)
All i can say is that the Fatboy was amazing and I'm sure that all these people who slag him off could do much better. Did anyone notice that the atmosphere was at its best when he was on? Great DJ = Great Atmosphere!

Matt
bring back the big beats norm your live from the boutique mix cd is whats its all about....where have they gone !!! ok set but not a patch on glasto 98 mate.

Diddlydee
May I Say that was the best day i've had in ages! Need to go to move outdoor events as it's been that long and forgotton what I missed. Groove Armada what can I say - Truely Fab!

Rupes
Fatboy Slim was the Daddy, is the Daddy and will be the Daddy for a LOOONG time. Maybe he isn't tooo hot at the beat mixing, but his cutting is SPOT ON. He is by far the most Creative DJ on the main-line scene at the moment. I've been at OBW in Derry and Cardiff. Missed this one by the atmos sounded Amazing. Jules was spot on, but Mr Cook was truely AWESOME. I'm going to see him in Liverpool soon, and judging by his set in Brum it should be an awesome night. Slash Dot Dash Dot Dot Dot Com Indeed.

simon c
dance day was awesome!trophy twins dropped a great set in the afternoon and of course the highlight had 2 be the fatboy, absolutely rocked the place! brilliant sets from jules, deep dish and nic fanciuli made it one of the best days ever!thanx radio 1!

Sapphire
Unfortunately, I couldn't make it, but I listened to the entire dance day (from Jules's show@ 7pm until 3am with Annie Mac!), dancing like mad in my bedroom (with many glasses of wine!) The whole thing was amazing. Mylo certainly lives up to the hype & Darren Emerson absolutely rocked the place! Thanks Radio 1!

Morgan
Leave Mr. Cook alone, if one man is gauranteed to never let down the crowd its FatBoy Slim. He always manages to dig out never heard before anthems and play reworked classics just at the right time to get the crowd singin and dancing. One thing I always say, FatBoy Slims sets are unique to any other DJ around, his style of mixing, choice of tunes and clever use of his own samples make him stand out among the rest of the DJ's elite.

soapy
Fatboy! Mate! sort that mixing out it was crap. wicked tunage! but shite mixing. Enough of the SLASH DOT DASH already!

Helen
Great weekend!!! Thank you Radio 1. Did anyone else spot Brain box John Tickle from BB on Sunday?

Neil da loon
Damn it! Was at Mr Emmersons set goin mental to Born Slippy while Tiesto was knockin out Adagio for Strings? How is a Gorilla meant to chose? Mental Radio 1, whens the next one? Now wheres that Jester gone? Nurse?......

Cuzza
My, My, My radio 1, what a show you put on for us all!! Great venue and full respect to every1 @ radio1 that made it happen and an A* to FatBoySlim!! you were something else. luvvin it!! nice one radio1!! Adam Currie, Crewe

Joshy t
Wow what i brill day especially jules and tiesto, but what about norman cook what aload of tosh /.-/-/-/-./-./ every 2 minutes

Sarah manchester
Tiesto wow!!! 'JUST BE had to be the tune of the night or maybe adagio for strings, anyway it was all amazing thanks so much radio 1,

Gemsy
How awesome was Fatboy Slim?! Rest of 'em were great too but Norman ruled all! Not only was the music amazing, but he is so fun to watch! He gets into his set more than the crowd, making it nearly impossible to keep still! Its easy to see why he's still going after all these years-this guy loves his job...who wouldn't?! Fair play Norman!

Michelle
Had a wikid wkend. Loved every minute. Everyone was banging! - Fat Boy, Nic F, Darren E, Groove Armada - 'Superstylin' went off!. Come back to Brum again!!

Junior Titch
One Big Weekend & Fatboy Slim, I've since read many mixed reviews on Norman Cook's set. A lot of which seem to be really slating the guy. Now while I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just want to stick my neck out a bit and and say he sounded superb. Yes, he was commercial. Yes, the mixing wasnt exactly Digweed. Yes, there was a massive use of his 'dashdot' sample. Commercial maybe, but that has been his angle for years. As for the 'dashdot' sample, the crowd responded everytime he used it, so why not keep on? Now while the more trance styled music is not my cup of tea anymore, the same applies with Dave Pearce & Judge Jules. These guys dont deserve to be knocked in anyway, they stick to what they do best...... Playing crowd pleasing, commercial dance for the people who want to hear it. More importantly, they enjoy it to the full so good luck to them. Loved it Fatboy, a massive big up to Fanciulli, Deep Dish, Rocky, Diesel & the Maidstone House Maffia.

bazzer
fat boy cooks can not mix and tat record das dot or wot ever is pants he must realise

the higgsmister (lady)
oh my god radio1 thank u so muh for last weekend,it was just amazin!Fatboy slim rocked the night for us,but cant forget about tiesto dave peirce!u gave me the perfect end to a perfect summer...back to reality!

manchesters finest
'FAN FLIPPIN TASTIC!!' from start to finish , excellent job radio1 x

jordan atkinson
I had a good time at the dance day on saturday, my highlights were Nic Fanculli, Deep Dish, X-Press 2 and was pleasently surprised with Tiesto as I'm not a lover of trance. I was eager to see Norman Cook but had to leave after ten minutes of slash dot, slash dot, slash.com. It was possibly the most annoying use of a sample ever, and was looping in my head for the remainder of the day. Judge Jules tunes were a bit stale and failed to get the crowd woking, but hey, at least the tickets were free! Radio One, bring your 1BigWeekend to Liverpool and we'll give your listeners an atmosphere to remember!

likkle lise
Never seen fatboy live b4, didnt know what to expect, and he blew my mind. WellDone fatboy! Nic fanculli was great to. Enjoyed the whole day. Thanx radio1.xx

Anna
/.-./.-./.-.-.COM/.-./.-./.-.-.COM.COM.COM.COM/.-./.-./.-./COM...Norman, what were you thinking??

Hixxy
Well what can i say......Was well worth the queue!! Fat boy slim was the dogs nuts, absoloutly amazing was going mad at the mixes he was pulling off especially the reworking of "walk like an Egyptian" oh my god did that tune raise the roof",but in general the whole day was a great success, julesy ,roll another fat one pearcy, and tiesto rocked the place too. I'm lost for words at the quality of the whole event. well done R1. The venue was pukka and as for the size of the tents, you couldnt get any bigger. 5* rating all the way.

Dillinga
What is it about Natasha Bedingfield...why do people rate this girl she is terrible...even worse than her brother...The mighty Armada and Mylo...proper music...

Oli (again...)
So many good reviews for an hour of fatboy 'slashing' on the audience. jonno - read up on it, and i'll send u a demo. Cheers once again to R1- great day out! Many more years of Pearce, I pray.

mervyn
Fancuilli jetted off to Lush! straight after his set.Witnessed the new turntable magician at Lush! on THAT sound system. Radio One you have unearthed A true shining star..

funky dancer Maidstone

david
listening to tiesto on internet now. so far so AMAIZING!!. heard jules and fat boy on sat. fat boy blew me away WHAT A SET!! cant wait to see him live.

EUPHORIA BOYS
I waited eagerly for mr cook and was not disapointed, the man knows how to work a crowd, and put a smile on peoples faces, i have to admit nailing his tune for half hour solid wasn't his best idea but, over sandy b that was legendary house music isn;t the easiest music to chop but mr cook has perfected it to a treat. PS Julsey you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tranceoholic
radio 1 you are no1 and you deserve the name you have. Just keep doing it more often even free or with ticket fee or somethin. It's just that feeling that you get when you see such great dj performers playing those wicked trance tunes that blow the minds away in higher states and specially the enviroment around, so thanx for that wonderful day and nite radio1. and hope we see some more... and my opinion is that Tiesto + Dave Pearce were the men of the night, also groove armada.

Black Gloves
Thank you Radio 1 for an amazing day, the atmosphere was wonderful The whole thing was an expert professional presentation, Deep Dish & Judge Jules were Fab, We thoroughly enjoyed Dave Pearce's instictive, brilliant set and Tiesto is well deserved of his title of No 1 for his perfect, flawless mixing. Thank you for the music I love to dance to - Thank-you for my 1 BIG WEEKEND.

Kingy
Judge Jules was pants AGAIN. Tiesto was ace. y did you not have MARK EG.......

Vambo
Wasn't there, but listened on Radio to Jules & FBS.Fantastic the both of them. Some peeps slaging off FBS here, WHY ???? FBS has always said he is not technicaly a very good dj. That is the great thing about him. None of this smooth perfect Mixing from him (he can if he wants to). As for /.- all the time, that was a wager to see how many times he could drop it in on his set. A genuis, is all I can say.

chris
seen fanculli in lush, portrush.rocked.say he wuda rocked on sat. cant wait to hear dubfire of deepdish in October in lush

Jennie S Manchester
No mention of David Guetta who played a brilliant set with an ecstatic finish on 'Just a little more love'I should have stayed his whole set instead of going to check fatboy who's name is definetly bigger than his sets. Very overrated. Groove armada also great but a little too chilled for 1st half an hour.Tiesto fantastic and atmosphere in the tent magic. Cheers radio 1

rosie

Jedi Knight
Jules, Pearce and Tiesto were fantastic. Fat Boy - pants! All I remember about that set before I left the tent was a stupid slash dot dash sample being played every 2 minutes. BIG YAWN. Cool inflatanble sofas. Big up to the Jester and Gorilla - fair play lads. Thanks radio 1, come back again PLEASE! BOGIES!

Normski
Norman Cook Slashed the place up and Jules raised the roof off the Tent! Top Bombing To Radio 1! Lets Hope the Next OBW goes to Lotherton Hall Leeds :-) Then i wouldnt have had to spend 2 Hours Driving Up and Down the M6 trying to get out of Birmingham and ending up in north wales :-(

Skinny
Hold on a minute, why has no one mentioned deep dish! They set the scence perfectly for the most big headed dj in the world! Deep dish i thankyou, fatboy go home sit with a pair of headphone and listen to yourself! Your half the reason dance music gets commercial! Cheese monster! Fair play to groove armada they rocked! Glad i left the fatboy for that one! Big up the Emerson (he always rocks it)! And fair play to scouse boy Yousef, mint follow up to Groove Armada! All in all (without the fatboy) in was a blinding day! Deep Dish number 1!

Pickles.
What an awesome event !! I have been to a lot of dance festivals and OBW is up there as one of most enjoyable. The sound system in the main tent was 1st class, and the DJ line was one of the best I have seen anywhere. My nights favourite has to be Deep Dish, closely followed by Nic Fanchulli and Tiesto. Fatboy didn't do much for me. It's okay playing your own new track, but hijacking the whole first 1/2 of your set because your live on the radio definitely spoilt it. Come back to the Midlands soon R1, you've made my summer ! How about a winter event at the NEC ?

Sally, Cannock
Thats the 1st time I've seen fatboy slim & Judge Jules live & my god were they amazing! A day 2 remember! Just wish I cud hav stayed for Sunday 2! Memories will be there 4eva! Can't wait 2 see them agen, FANTASTIC!!!!!!! My, My, My I loved it!!!!!

Simon Vernon
What a great day, Groove Armarda did not disappoint and showed they truly are the best. Tiesto toped the day with an amazing set and even Dave Pearce knocked out some great tunes. Thank you radio 1 for a great event. :)

Esther Watkins
that was the worst bunch of photos i have ever seen on a website, why have you got phots of the backs of security guards heads, when there were so many famous people there... you should sack the photographer!

Nicki
Saw fanculli, jules, deep dish, groove armada who were all wicked but fatboy done it for me as did yousef, well done Radio 1, quality event, whens the next one?!! ;0)

Nina
Tunes were on top form, Fatboy Slim was mental, he is just nuts, you could just tell he was having as much fun as we were, oh my god what a babe that Oliver Lang is!!!

Ruth
Absolutely First Class!! Legs are still hurting from dancing for 7 hours! Loved Fat Boy Slim, Groove Armada and Darren Emerson! Cheers Radio 1

chaz
Wicked Day Razorlight,Kasabian,Lostprophets and Mouldie Looking Stain stole the show..Spoke to lostprophets spoke to me and my mates there well down to earth so cheers for a brill day ..CHEERS!!

Ash
Wot a let down, with the DJ line up u would av thought it would be a blinder but that couldn't be far from the truth. Next time it will av 2b the radio atleast u can switch that off !!!!!!!

Matthew Robert Hambly
Didn't get to go but am listening again to the Dance Day - Mylo rocks and Express-2 - the set is so good i have TEARS IN MY EYES!!! Stange looks from work colleagues! Worth every one though - awesome!

Sarah T
All DJ's where amazing but well done radio 1 for bring us the best DJ in the world. all of it was great but two songs that really stood out were Adagio for strings and Just Be spine tingling stuff with just so many hands in the air i couldn't see the stage. i can't wait until the next time.

James
FatBoySlim - What a great set Thanks for that! Judge - Why ya stop his last song... Next time 2 hours of FatBoy and do nasty DJ's please! Groove Armarda where great to, well the second half of their set!

MeJuli
Best birthday ever!!! Thanx sooooo much radio1! Groove Armada were out of this world, my stomach muscles are still killing me from shaking my arse all over the place!! Tiesto was fab and rounded my birthday off nicely! Never forget this one radio1, I have the photos to prove it!!!

howler
Got there for Mutiny live, their last tracks was wicked! Then saw Mylo - always ace, Nic Fanciulli - great! Groove Armada were totally ace and really got arena two rocking. Yousef was wicked - especially playing Cajmere! XPress 2 were the best Ive seen - Depeche Mode rocked it!! (britney though :))- and set of the evening defo came from Daz Emerson. He totally kicked it - starting off with La Mouche is always a winner and then it just got better... ending with a bit of Born slippy... i think considering it was a festie and you generally have to pull out the bigguns to get everyone going they all did great. wicked music with just enuf cheese to keep everyone happy! well done radio 1. Boss day out!

Fatboy Slim Can't mix!!
First of all it was a fantastic day. Better then this years global. Two tents is all you need. Did fatboy think he was the man or something, using the same sample of dashdotdash over and over again which for me is just a poor tune. The man of the night had to go to Dave Pearce. He was loving it more then anyone out there.

Jules, Pompey
We travelled from Portsmouth for 6 hours of dancin and then travelled all the way home, but it was worth every minute, deep dish, fatboy and of course groove armada the best there. roll on next 1.B.W!!!!!!!!!!

jonno
cant beleive oli thinks fatboy cant mix is he any better (no) amazing he was the best of the night. rinse roberts was a breath of fresh air too he will go on 4 a while nice one radio 1

James
Dance day - absolutely fantastic!! Oliver Lang - one of the best warm up sets I have heard. Fatboy Slim - storming! Dave Pearce - a very under-rated Radio 1 and clubland DJ. An excellent set. More from him, please. Tiesto - quality! Thank you Radio 1. No one does it better.

Had (Beast)
Josh Roberts was great.

keli
oh my god what a great line up.i was a vergin to clubbin, but wot a way to pop my cherry ay!!!fat boy was orgasmic he really did it for me!c u in manchester.

Paul & Daughter Hayley
Jules - OMG. Dave Pearce - Fantastic set, you could see on his face how much he loves his trance. Tiesto - If God was a DJ.... Thanks Radio 1, the weather held good. Please come back again.

Bolando
Got to say a massive congrats to Radio 1. You put on an amzing show. The sound & lighting for the main stage was excellent - better than anything I've seen at previous dance festivals. Fatboy as a performer was great fun and put a big smile on my face. Deep Dish were rocking. We also went to Leicester for the carry on so what a day. But for all those bangin' on about Tiesto being the worlds best... you clearly havent seen Roger Sanchez who'll blow anyone else out of the water, working an 8hr set like childs play!

Marko C
First one big weekend and it wont be the last, Groove Armarda made up for Fat boy slims hour long promo slot. Never seen Tiesto but now I realise why Tiesto, is indeed, a God!!

trisha
the best for me was GROOVE ARMADA, they were fantastic!!! You can't beat a live band and they were just rocking!!! Superstylin - best tune of the night.A GREAT SET!!!

Danielle
It was brill Radio one you have to cum back to birmingham!!! And Oliver Lang is a babe!!! xx

Donna
Wow, had an amazing weekend highlights were Fatbory Slim on Saturday and Mouldy Looking Chain on Sunday. Great how it wasn't rammed so you coul enjoy it more. Just disappointed that queued for over an hour for Chris Moyles signing and didn't get to meet him!

Katty

Diz
Jules and fatboy teared the house down!!

TIESTO IS GOD
my name says it all wowwww he was amazing - proved why hes the number 1 dj in the world!!! YEAH BABY

brig
My first ONEBIGWEEKEND and i was totally blown away. I now know there is a god and he really is a dj! Credit goes out to JOSH 'RINSIN' ROBERTS for kicking it all off with some outstanding well known tunes, NIC FANCUILLI for an awesome remix of Song 2 by Blur (somebody please release that tune!) TIESTO for leaving us all wanting more and playing the best mix of adagio's strings ive ever heard but the golden star has got to go to FATBOY SLIM. The guy is untouchable, he leads and everyone follows, what a legend! Thank you RADIO 1, best use of licence fees ever!

clare
fat boy slim was fantastic,a totally amazing day. what a great way to spend a saturday!

Phill, Newbury
Yet again Radio 1, you've done an amazing job! And yes, Fatboy Slim has returned to re-take is crown with style!

Darren H - Chelmsley Wood
Tiesto was amazing some of the best tuneage of the night, i tht fatboy slim, well most disappointing didn't help with dot com dot com all the way through....Pearce amazingly quite good well done less cheese than thought, but tiesto cant be compared to.

Oli
What went wrong? Was there a curse put on most of the djs that prevented them from mixing well? Best performance from Dave Pearce - his poor mixing was made up for by his tunes. Does every funky DJ share the same box? (having said that - gold star to deep dish) Fatboy - retire now before people realise you can't mix. Tiesto gave an average performance - Armin for the crown!

h and harvie
well done jules and fatboy....we loved it and me and all our mates still listening and its sunday..... listenin to tiesto next ......

Jackston
Everbody has to buy some of mylo and groove armada's music two of the greatest live performances i have ever seen, i left with a big smile.

Joe and Charlie's Dad

Groove amarda was wicked and the first dj act in the radio one main tent was great but I say Groove amarda dance the tent 2 away and was the best act out all the acts who played on dance day but I think fatboy slim thought he was the main act well I think he should move over soon becuase he wasn't the main act anyway I enjoy the day thank u radio one hope u come back to birmingham in future your be welcome anytime you want to come back

Ash.p

Podge
Brilliant. All the time was at the front of the mainstage the entire show. Fatboy's set was amazing the dowrd was wild. And tiesto was omething else!!! Cant wait for another 1

Karl
abosolute bangin day. The Dj's were fantastic, jules, fatboy, dave bein his usuall class self, and tiesto trully lived up to his name! some of my riends came who wernt into dance music, there officially conveted now! chears guys

matthew
grove armarda were by far and away the highlight of the evening, don't understand the few bad reviews i've just seen about them! Fatboy on the other hand was poor compared to previous gigs!!

Boode
A real mix up of performances. Fat Boy Slim seemed out of practice and it seemed an hour long rendition of his new song. The crowd never seemed to get going as there were such a mixed crowd, one of the tents was always nearly empty making it hard for the DJ's to really lift the atmos. But i was really impressed by Yousef who set the crowd up for X-press 2 and Emerson. A good show but hour long sets of differing genres needs addressing.

Sausäge
The whole thing sounded amazing. I went to 1 Big Weekend in Derry and if the atmosphere was anything like it was there it would have been another great day. Just listened to Groove Armada online and Superstylin' once again did the job. Well done Radio 1.

sampo
Groove Armada ripped it to bits, Yousef tried and did at times succeed. Thanks Radio 1 only problem was there was no line up thing so you know who's playing when

Dan
Well, my first OBW and sure as hell wont be the last! Truly loved Fanculi, Deep Dish were amazing, Groove Armada made my night for live music, and Tiesto put the icing on the cake for all trance DJ's (also the first I've ever seen him play, not a bad start eh) Well done, cant wait for more...

cowboy
what a weekend!!!! Trophy twins dissapointing! But fatboy is still number 1! Even got chance to bust my cowboy moves when people were leaving for groove armada!!!! Top weekend where do i sign for the next one!?!

johnny

Hairy
Quality lineup, quality tunes, quality atmosphere and the weather did what it needed to as well. Fair play to ya Radio 1!! Here's a big Brummie thanks!!

dazstanny
fatboy slim was by the far the best dj (and the happiest, not mentioning any names dave or jules)

Radio 1, thankyou for bringing a fantastic day to Birmingham! It's the first time I've been to an event like that and I can only hope there are more of them! Fatboy Slim was a terrific crowd pleaser and Judge Jules was super for the first half hour. It difficult to explain the experience of the live event... listening on the radio will never be better than being there (sorry!) Thanyou for chosing our city Radio1!

mark

AMAZING! Tiesto was the best no wonder he is the best Dj in the world, When Dave P dropped the version of airwave and the end of his set the place went mental and so did i. Judge was class nice slice of hard trance for all. had never seen Nic Fanculli before and i was not dissapointed that remix of blur was fab. Gold Star to tiesto though that new reworked version of just be! he truley is the aclaimed master!

Like a idiot I queued up for the wrong day, so I wasn't really looking forward to the dance day. But how wrong I was. It was amazing, Fat Boy Slim being the highlight he rocked the house. The stage and atmosphere was just something else. Excellent work radio1.

Todays Dance day at Perry Park was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS to say the least. Tiesto was just so amazing, he blew the dance day away completely. After his set, he came down to the front of the crowd to speak to all his fans that were still around. I got to meet him which was so out of this world. I had a T-shirt on which I'd customised myself, which said Tiesto on it. When he saw my T-shirt, he was really impressed! then I told him I'd made it and he told me how great that was and signed it for me. Then I got to shake his hand and he gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was so happy I cried. Thankyou Radio 1 for a great day and Thankyou so much Tiesto for making today the best day of my life. Cant wait to see you play again.

DJ_FATIGUE
I must admitt, jules did seem to lose it half way through but at leased he did mess around so much with the cdj's. "that" trick is becoming boring & as a dj myself, theres so much more you can do to improve your peformance but, who am i to say!

Kenny Campbell
