LL Cool J confident Justin can cut it as a movie star

LL Cool J

Radio 1 caught up with LL Cool J last night at the Brit Awards (Tuesday).

He's set to star in a movie alongside Justin Timberlake about a journalist who uncovers a den of corrupt cops. Justin is set to play a reporter.

We asked LL Cool J to tell us more about it:

"'Edison' is a film I'm doing with Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and Justin Timberlake and it's going to be real real exciting I think."

So will Justin cut it as an actor?

"I think he'll be fine - I mean he's a star, you love him, the world loves him, so I don't see why he should have any problems. I'm sure he's studying hard and getting ready so, it'll be cool."

Gwen Stefani goes solo

Gwen Stefani

We caught up with Gwen Stefani after last night's show – she said performing 'Kiss' on stage with Missy Elliott and Alicia Keys was a real rush for her.

She's taking a break from No Doubt at the moment to work on her solo stuff – but she assured us it's just a side project and No Doubt fans shouldn't start worrying too much:

"We're still going to do No Doubt songs, but 17 years we've been together… You hit a point in your music career where you put a greatest hits out, it's like 'No way!' you know? So I decided to do this."

"I want to do a dance record really bad, I thought it was going to be real easy and fun, and it's really hard and taking a long time…the whole process of it. I know it's going to be really good for me because I'm working with so many incredible people, and hopefully I'll make something great, and then I'll come back to the other band and we'll all be missing each other and we'll be all inspired and ready to do something again."

Gwen's working with Nelly Hooper and she wants to do a White Lines - Grandmaster Melle Mel sound.

Noel Gallagher loving NERD

Noel Gallagher

There were loads of after-Brits parties last night (Tuesday).

Beyonce held a bash which was quite uneventful, but Lemar seemed to be enjoying himself.

He was still on a high from winning the Best Urban Act - he went round telling everyone and offering to buy them drinks.

The party to be at last night though was the NERD gig which happened after the show. Will I Am (Black Eyed Peas), Justin Timberlake and Dizzee Rascal all performed the track 'Lapdance'.

Even Noel Gallagher was there with his girlfriend but it wasn't his choosing:

"I'm not a massive fan. I only heard the album for the first time the other night and I thought it was really good. My lovely girlfriend here, she's a fan so she'll probably faint when he comes on stage I would have thought."

He told us what Oasis are up to at the moment:

"We're just in the middle of doing our album. We're just having a couple of weeks off from it. It'd be nice to get it out for the summer, but I doubt it. Maybe the end of the year, I don't know, it depends how well it goes, but it's going a bit slow, lets put it that way."
