China Bears the Brunt of Typhoon Mangkhut

Typhoon Mangkhut has swept through the southern Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Hainan with winds of over a-hundred-and-sixty kilometres an hour, bringing torrential rain. The Chinese authorities evacuated about two-and-a-half million people from the heavily-populated region.

Morocco's Parliament is due to debate the reintroduction of military conscription in the kingdom. Millions of Moroccans, aged between 19 and 25 would have to serve for a year. And the first conscripts could be drafted by the end of the year.

A study has found that taking low, daily doses of aspirin does not protect against serious illness for healthy elderly people. The blood-thinning drug has been seen as a preventative measure, but researchers in Australia say many people may be using it unnecessarily.
