Rwandan president Paul Kagame has approved the release of more than 2000 prisoners, including opposition leader Victoire Ingabire and musician Kizito Mihigo. However, the prominent opposition figure Diane Rwigara remains in jail.
Morocco's Parliament is due to debate the reintroduction of military conscription in the kingdom. Millions of Moroccans, aged between 19 and 25 would have to serve for a year. And the first conscripts could be drafted by the end of the year.
