People Seek Shelter from Hurricane Irma

Those in the path of the "potentially catastrophic" storm secure homes and stockpile supplies.

Islands in the Caribbean have made last-minute preparations for Hurricane Irma, the most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade, with officials warning of its "potentially catastrophic" effects.

The South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, has told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the situation on the Korean peninsula has been complicated by the provocative actions of North Korea. On Tuesday Mr Putin described sanctions imposed on Pyongyang as useless.

The head of Brazil's Olympic association, Carlos Nuzman, is being questioned by police investigating what they say is strong evidence of vote buying to secure Rio's successful bid to host the 2016 games.
