Hurricane Irma Roars Through the Caribbean

Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful storms recorded in the Atlantic, is moving through the eastern Caribbean, with winds of close to three-hundred kilometres an hour.

The South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, has told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the situation on the Korean peninsula has been complicated by the provocative actions of North Korea. On Tuesday Mr Putin described sanctions imposed on Pyongyang as useless.

Researchers in the United States have found that the Zika virus, which causes birth defects in babies, could be used to fight the most common form of brain cancer in adults.
