Commodore Lionel Summer
Retired Commodore Lionel Summer, the bellicose father of Captain Charles Summer, is proud of his family's military history which includes a forebear at the Battle of Trafalgar.
Though dismissive of his son’s fragile emotional state brought on by trauma at war and consequent therapeutic cooking, he is incredibly pleased that Charles is marrying into such an esteemed family as the Grahams with its connection to the Tynemouth Marshalls. He is even more pleased to discover that the bride-to-be’s uncle is Hector Gidley, an old public school chum, seemingly sealing the deal on a Devonshire wedding.
