Yasser

Is there anything he doesn't do?

Yasser showcases new, unsigned and live British-Asian music on Friday nights from 9pm to midnight on the BBC Asian Network. He can also be heard deputising for Tommy Sandhu, The Request Show and The Chart on BBC Asian Network plus Adele Roberts and Dev on BBC Radio 1.

Manchester born Yasser first started at the young age of 12 at CBBC when he was invited to take part on a number of shows across the channel.

During his high school years he would sit around at the local hospital radio station absorbing the radio craft.

Yasser volunteered at Leeds' biggest community radio station Fever FM whilst still at university, presenting a weekly evening show.

Not long after getting the breakfast show at a community station, the largest Asian radio station in the Northwest, Asian Sound Radio, hired him on as their chart show host.

Still doing his degree, Yasser was involved in his student radio station LSR FM where he presented his comedy show, The Lazy Eskimo Show and a specialist Asian Beats music show.

A few months later Yasser was nominated for Best Male Presenter and Best Specialist Music Show at the Student Radio Awards. At the same time, he was also nominated for four National Student Television Awards, including Best On-screen Male and Best Comedy for his presenting work on his student TV station, Met TV.

Aside from his radio work, Yasser was also a successful DJ, his unique ability to mix and scratch secured him weekly residencies at some of the biggest clubs in the world including Sankeys in Manchester and The Leeds Warehouse.

Just after graduating, Yasser was again nominated for the Best Specialist Music Show for his hugely popular Asian Beats show, which he went on to win another Silver award.

Yasser is also a popular YouTuber in his spare time. Yasser's (or Mr Yazzur’s, as he is known online) unique presenting style, quick wit and sense of humour attracts hundreds of thousands of hits across the world on his comedy videos.
