Mrs Proudie (Joanna Monro)

Trollope describes Bishop Proudie’s wife as ruling with a rod of iron over the household of her husband and 3 daughters and stretching her powers over all her husband's movements, including things spiritual. In relation to him she is almost despotic. She makes strict observence of the Sabbath. But beneath that stiff bodice, there are rumours of a heart.
