Ty says of this score “When looking at “24 hours on Earth” I decided to keep much of the score quite subtle, more textural than thematic, keeping the “big moments” until they were absolutely needed rather than falling for the temptation to match the beautiful soaring landscapes with the obvious musical equivalent.

"This isn’t to say that there aren’t reoccurring themes, there are essentially three. A simple rising theme, a textural atmospheric chord sequence and a ticking clock motif, all of which give the score a sense of continuity and development.

"The reality is that with this programme the subject matter and beautiful visuals are so stunning that for me the score should only enhance the pictures rather than lead the viewer. I hope that I succeeded.”
