Catriona Shearer
Catriona Shearer is best known for waking up the nation – as the face of BBC Scotland's Breakfast TV bulletins. She can also be seen presenting Reporting Scotland and has hosted the programme live from Wimbledon.
Away from the news desk, Catriona has helped ring in the New Year on BBC 1 on the Hogmanay Programme, has presented Midsummer Live from the Isle of May and has featured in several BBC documentaries including Scots' language series Blethering Scots. As a keen music fan, she's covered T in the Park live for television, and has hosted the New Music Zone for BBC Radio Scotland.
She fulfilled an ambition by making her comedy debut on the BBC's legendary Hogmanay programme Only An Excuse. Continuing the football theme she's sometimes heard co-presenting the BBC's irreverent football show Off the Ball. She has also appeared in River City - playing herself - as a newsreader.
Her career began in London, where Catriona worked as a producer on BBC Radio Five Live Breakfast. She developed her journalistic skills, but more importantly, her ability to get up early!
Before joining the team in Glasgow, Catriona worked in Cardiff for BBC Radio Wales and co-presented the Saturday afternoon Sports programme Sportstime.
