They Came Before Columbus by Ivan van Sertima
Clarke Peters chooses They Came Before Columbus, an anthropological study written in 1976 by Dr Ivan van Sertima which makes the highly disputed claim that African Americans came to America centuries before Christopher Columbus. Largely ignored by academia, the book became a best-seller.
