About Karl Johnson
Karl's theatre credits include: Frankenstein, Scenes from the Big Picture, The Seafarer and The Machine Wreckers. At the Royal Court Karl has worked with Ian Rickson in three productions: The Night Heron, Boy Gets Girl and The Weir. Karl was also part of the successful transfer from the Old Vic to the West End of Lyndsay Posner’s Noises Off. His most recent stage performance was in Lyndsey Turner’s Hamlet at the Barbican alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
Karl is best known for his role as series regular Twister in the hugely successful Lark Rise To Candleford. Some of his extensive television work includes A Tale of Two Cities, Vanity Fair, David Copperfield, Rome, The Chatterley Affair, Small Island, Atlantis, Call the Midwife and Merlin.
Karl’s many film appearances include Derek Jarman’s Jubilee, The Tempest, John Maybury’s Love is the Devil, Terence Davies’ The Deep Blue Sea, Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz, Neil Burger’s The Illusionist, The Sea and Good Vibrations; the true story of Terri Hooley’s life.
