For Wild UK Lucy will be celebrating some of the incredible conservation efforts helping to make Britain wilder
Lucy is passionate about animals and how they behave. Her obsession has taken her across the world but that hasn’t stopped her interest in the wildlife on her doorstep here in the UK. For Wild UK Lucy will be celebrating some of the incredible conservation efforts helping to make Britain wilder as well as enjoying surprise wildlife encounters around the country.
BACKGROUND:
Lucy grew up in the Sussex countryside and was fascinated with nature from an early age. David Attenborough’s Life on Earth series fuelled her passion further and so she went on to study zoology at New College, Oxford, specialising in evolution and animal behaviour.
After graduating Lucy moved into TV, working in comedy before going on to produce and direct major science, travel and history documentaries as well as award winning natural history programmes. Her first love has always been natural history and so in the past few years she has migrated to the front of the camera to present some amazing animal science shows for the BBC, ITV, National Geographic and Channel 4. These include learning to speak hippo in “Talk to the Animals”, tickling frogs eggs live on Channel 4 in “Easter Eggs Live”, becoming an unlikely animal midwife in “Amazing Animal Births”, teaching an orphan baby elephant to swim in “Natures Miracle Orphans”, and dodging dive-bombing seagulls in “Britain’s Boldest Thieves.” Most recently she has been going head to head with naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham, on the BBC 2 quiz show “Curious Creatures”.

One of Lucy’s favourite animals is the frog and that has resulted in her licking poison dart frogs in Colombia and joining an expedition to look for a rare frog that burps up its babies in Patagonia.
