Douglas Trumbull is a film director, visual effects supervisor and inventor - responsible for the special photographic effects on 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Blade Runner. He also directed the movie Silent Running.
