The Giant of South Worcestershire

The so-called 'Ripple Giant', medieval farm labourer Robert Reeve, was seven feet four inches tall when he died in 1626.

Unusually for someone of his status, he was buried in his local churchyard.

Discover how his height gave him confidence, but over-confidence might have led to one job too many. According to folklore, he died of exhaustion after attempting to cut the entire 67 acres of nearby Uckinghall Meadow.

The epitaph on his grave reads 'as you passe by behold my length, but never glory in your strength’.
