BBC Radio Solent Soapbox Appeal 2026
8.7 million adults in the UK miss work, and 1 in 10 children skip school because of hygiene poverty, according to research from the charity - the Hygiene Bank.
Throughout January BBC Radio Solent has helped collect donated toiletries and cleaning items so local community schemes can share them with anyone who needs a little extra support.
We've been absolutely blown away by the response to our Solent Soapbox Appeal - thank you for your generosity!
BBC Radio Solent's Tom Murray has been at Southampton Central Library to see some of the donated items being collected.
