Tales from the Sea: A life on the Grimsby trawlers

Tony Roach spent 32 years as a trawlerman, including stints aboard the Ross Tiger for which he's now a tour guide at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.

Tony Roach first went to sea as a 12-year-old alongside his father. Initially he didn't enjoy the experience, but after several more trips - including one as a stowaway - he went on to follow in his father's footsteps, spending 32 years as a trawlerman.
Among the vessels Tony worked on in the 1960s was the Ross Tiger, which is now an exhibit at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre where Tony works as a tour guide.
