Hygiene poverty causing people to skip work

8.7 million adults miss work and 1 in 10 children skip school because of hygiene poverty, according to research from the charity - the Hygiene Bank.

For many, everyday essentials like soap, toothpaste, and personal care products are now unaffordable.

Throughout January BBC Radio Solent is helping collect donated toiletries and cleaning items so local community schemes can share them with anyone who needs a little extra support.

Ruth Brock is the CEO of the Hygiene Bank, she's been chatting to BBC Radio Solent's Katie Martin.
