Christmas Eve 1965: A star fell from the sky
It’s 60 years since the Barwell meteorite landed in the village and made history.
On Christmas Eve 60 years ago, with a sonic boom, a meteorite broke up over the Leicestershire village of Barwell. It remains one of the largest meteorite falls observed in Britain.
Dave Radford from Barwell found a piece of the meteorite in 1966 and sold it to buy a new bike!
BBC Leicester’s Ben Jackson went to meet Dave, and also Graham Ensor who owns a piece of the famous meteorite - that fell through the roof of a nearby factory.
Dave told Ben what he found back in '66.
