The Old General Pub in Hyson Green, which has now been redeveloped into shops and housing, was once home to a beloved community icon - The Old General statue, a sculpture of 1800s Nottingham Legend, Benjamin Mayo. Locals relished the chance to dress him up as Santa every Christmas, until he disappeared during the redevelopment.
